Jason James, MD
Reform Mohel
I am a board certified Ob/Gyn in Miami, Florida as well as a Certified Reform Mohel through the Berit Mila Board of Reform Judaism and the National Organization of American Mohalim. I perform ritual circumcision (bris, brit milah) for observant Jews as well as non-religious circumcisions in the home and office for patients who desire an intimate yet professional experience. Please see www.beritmila.org for more information about this organization.
I have performed hundreds of circumcisions over the past 18+ years and believe that a sterile, and essentially pain-free, circumcision can be performed in a manner that is family-centered and minimizes stress for the child and family. I can perform your child's bris in your home, at your synagogue, in my office, or in another place of your choosing. If you have a relationship with a Rabbi, I welcome their inclusion in this special ceremony.

Congratulations on the birth of your son!
A Brit Milah or ‘Bris’ service traditionally consists of a circumcision, naming ceremony, and a festive meal to follow. My Brit Milah is a family-oriented service, meaning there is opportunity for family members to participate, which I encourage whenever possible. Parents, grandparents, sisters, brothers, godparents, etc. are all invited to participate, if you choose. My goal is to make this as stress-free and enjoyable an experience as possible!
A Bris should normally be performed on the eighth day of life (including the day of birth). For example, if your son is born on Friday, then the Bris will be on the following Friday. If your son is born on Tuesday after sundown, then the Bris will be on the following Wednesday. A Bris takes precedence over Shabbat and all Jewish holidays, therefore you can have a Bris on Saturday. The Bris may, however, be postponed whenever there is any concern for the health of the child.
